Fossiliferous limestone displaying a surface covered with brachiopod shells. Brachiopods are marine invertebrates with bivalve shells within which is a pair of arms bearing tentacle-like organs that the use to create by a current of water is made to bring microscopic food to the mouth. This sample came from the Late Ordovician Whitewater Formation outcrop area near Brookville, Indiana. |
